Our Mission
Southern
California Minority Business Development Council’s mission is to
support and develop minority business enterprises to compete and succeed
in the open
market through three primary objectives:
- To open the corporate purchasing and contracting door for minority
business owners,
- To provide corporations with information on qualified
minority suppliers, and
- To enhance employment in the minority community
through increased corporate purchases
Our Mission:

- To promote adoption and implementation of policies and practices that
encourage and enhance the purchase of goods and services from minority-owned
business enterprises (MBEs)
- To facilitate the growth and expansion
of minority businesses by educating and informing purchasers of the
availability of minority-owned products
and services;
- To assist member corporations in the implementation
of minority purchasing programs focused to expand economic opportunities
among MBEs;
- To provide educational services, training, and information
to MBEs to further increase their competitiveness to qualify as suppliers
of goods and services
to member corporations;
- To endorse other nonprofit organizations
and entities’ programs and
activities that align with SCMBDC’s mission, goals and
objectives;
- To commit SCMBDC to continually seek new programs,
events and activities to ensure member corporations and MBE
constituents
receive the
highest quality service utilizing industry “best practices.”
Our
Objectives:
- To provide technical assistance and support which will allow for increase
and enhanced services to both corporate and MBE constituents.
- To encourage
and assist minority-owned firms to effectively utilize the National
Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC)/SCMBDC network for
the promotion of their products and services to corporate members.
- To conduct trade fairs seminars and other activities to promote information
exchange and effective communication between government and private
enterprise and minority suppliers.
- To develop and sustain forms
of financial assistance that will provide NMSDC/SCMBDC-certified minority
suppliers with needed capital
at
affordable rates and offer an opportunity for larger companies
to profit by investing
in smaller minority-owned businesses.
- To be the voice of minority
business by educating the corporate community that certified minority
business enterprises play an
important role
by providing dependable, quality products and services on time
and at competitive
prices.
- To help corporations develop, maintain and expand minority
supplier programs, and to recognize those corporations that
conduct outstanding
programs.
