Lauren Knight
Certification Specialist
Southern California Minority Business Development Council, Inc.

Lauren Knight began her time at SCMBDC in March 2007 as a student intern, while enrolled as a full time student at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). While pursuing an Urban Planning minor at UCLA, Lauren gained a special appreciation for the hard work that goes into the development and placement of businesses within the marketplace. This appreciation led to her particular interest in minority business.

During her time at the council, Lauren has assisted in both the creation and implementation of internal procedures used to increase the efficiency of the certification and recertification processes. She has also helped streamline external certification communications and processes, including customer service methods.

Lauren is well-rounded in certification policies and currently conducts a review of all applications. She is also responsible for orchestrating the training and scheduling of the Certification Committee.

Lauren received the National Minority Supplier Development Council’s (NMSDC) “Certificate of Achievement” for completion of National’s Certification Training Program in March 2009.

Upon graduation in June 2009, Lauren accepted a full time position as Certification Specialist. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology with an emphasis in business and urban planning.
