"About 50% of our customer contacts were made through networking with the SCMBDC over the years. Companies such as American Honda, Toyota, ARCO, Northrop, Verizon, Pac Bell, and Raytheon... SCMBDC has been a great help when I needed to get to the ‘right person.’ Their referrals have opened many doors for me as a salesperson."

Minority Business Certification

SCMBDC, along with all National Minority Supplier Development Council affiliates, provide Minority Business Certification, a process that adheres to the NMSDC's strict guidelines, making our certification of men and women ethnic minoritiy-owned businesses one of the most internationally accepted minority business certifications.

What is Minority Business Certification? Minority Business Certification is the process that a business enterprise claming to be a minority owned business must undergo to verify the company's 51% ownership by a minority or group of minorities that are US-citizens, and owned, managed and operated on a daily basis by the minority of group of minority owners.

Certification is now more important than ever! Major corporations include supplier diversity as a core business strategy, and use certification as a tool to validate and seek qualified minority businesses.

Upon certification, NMSDC/SCMBDC-certified minority businesses receive:

  • MBE health insurance that is affordable, top-quality, competitively priced, and customized.
  • Database exposure to 3500 NMSDC corporate members who access and source our database for MBEs. Conversely, MBEs have access to our 200 corporate member database.
  • Business Networking events strategically poised to match similar industry corporate and MBE entities for potential business, relationship building, and partnerships and teaming among corporate with MBEs, and MBEs with MBEs
  • Professional Development through advanced management education programs, workshops and seminars.
